Oil
This painting has been awarded Joanne Reeves Memorial Award, Regional Art Contest, Grand Rapids, "Grand Rapids Light", 2019 and it was also accepted into International Art Contest ArtPrize 2018.
Late one night my husband and I happened to spend a few hours by the Gillette Bridge in Grand Rapids. Settled in our countryside surroundings we rarely go to the city, so I was very happy for the opportunity to photograph the nighttime scenery. Known primarily for my nature paintings, I have had a dream to start a new series of cityscapes. Therefore, this atypical evening provided insight into the hues, lines, space, mood, and lighting of the city, all consequential aspects I have reflected in this painting. It is done in oils with a palette knife technique that allows to create bold and rich texture.
This painting combines great masculine architecture, mixed with soft and brilliant fall texture, and soothing water reflections...
